Job Overview:

A law firm in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced Energy Of Counsel to join their team. The ideal candidate will possess significant expertise in Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) proceedings, energy transactions, and regulatory matters. This role requires strong contract drafting skills, international project experience, and exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in FERC energy regulatory proceedings and other regulatory matters.
  • Provide expert legal support for a wide range of energy transactions, including oil, gas, and power (both renewable and traditional).
  • Draft and review contracts, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Transportation Service Agreements (TSAs), and agreements related to open seasons, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and regulatory diligence.
  • Develop and execute complex settlement agreements for infrastructure projects, including those with international dimensions.
  • Conduct insightful legal research and analysis to support client needs and strategic goals.
  • Prepare and present persuasive legal arguments and documentation.
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure effective legal support and strategy.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience with FERC energy regulatory proceedings and energy transactions.
  • Proven track record of strong contract drafting and review skills.
  • International experience in infrastructure projects and complex settlement agreements is preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform insightful legal research and analysis.
  • Proficient in persuasive writing and presenting legal arguments.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the District of Columbia Bar, active and in good standing.

Skills:

  • Expertise in energy law and regulatory matters.
  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Experience with international infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
