A law firm in Wheaton, IL, is seeking an experienced Family Law Attorney to join their team. The candidate will be responsible for handling a variety of family law cases, providing legal representation, advice, and advocacy to clients in divorce, child custody, child support, paternity, adoption, and other related matters.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in family law proceedings, including hearings, trials, mediation, and arbitration.
  • Provide strategic legal advice and counsel to clients, ensuring their rights and interests are protected.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, agreements, and orders.
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients and participate in settlement conferences.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategy and prepare for hearings and trials.
  • Maintain communication with clients to keep them informed about case developments and strategies.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships based on trust and effective communication.
  • Collaborate with paralegals, legal assistants, and other attorneys to manage caseload effectively.
  • Stay updated on changes in family law statutes, regulations, and court procedures.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar (or willingness to become admitted).
  • 2+ years of experience practicing family law.
  • Strong knowledge of family law statutes, regulations, and court procedures in Illinois.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to build rapport with clients and understand their needs.
  • Strong advocacy and courtroom presentation skills.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in legal research and case management software.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing legal education in family law.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar.
