Job Overview:

A prestigious law firm located in Columbia, MD is seeking a dedicated and experienced Associate Attorney to join its expanding employment and professional license defense practice. This position offers the opportunity to represent clients in complex legal matters, draft legal documents, and provide legal advice. The ideal candidate should have at least two years of federal court litigation experience.

Location:

  • Columbia, MD

Duties:

  • Represent clients in legal proceedings, including court appearances and government administrative agencies.
  • Draft legal documents and pleadings on behalf of clients.
  • Provide legal advice on employment law and professional license defense matters.
  • Negotiate settlements in legal disputes.
  • Handle court appearances, depositions, and trials.
  • Prepare marketing materials such as blog posts and webinars.
  • Meet the firm's established billable hour requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal standards and regulations.

Requirements:

  • At least two years of complex litigation experience, preferably in employment law.
  • Experience handling proposed removals and suspensions in federal sector cases.
  • Experience representing federal employees before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB).
  • Experience litigating employment cases under Title VII, FMLA, ADA, the Rehabilitation Act, and FLSA.
  • Experience litigating cases through summary judgment in federal court.
  • Licensed to practice law in Maryland, with preference for candidates also licensed in the District of Columbia.
  • First-chair deposition experience.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in Maryland (D.C. Bar preferred).
