Job Overview
A law firm located in Los Angeles is seeking a dedicated and experienced Immigration Attorney to join its team. The position will focus on removal defense, USCIS procedures, and some appellate work, including representing clients in family court for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) cases. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in immigration law, excellent writing and communication skills, and the ability to manage cases and supervise support staff.

Duties

  • Manage assigned immigration cases, including removal defense and USCIS procedures.
  • Appear in Immigration Court and represent clients in removal proceedings.
  • Appear at USCIS for interviews and hearings.
  • Research and write motions, briefs, appeals, and other legal documents.
  • Maintain communication with clients throughout the legal process.
  • Supervise and collaborate with support staff to ensure efficient case management.
  • Handle family court appearances for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) cases.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in immigration law, particularly removal defense and USCIS procedures.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong research skills to analyze and apply case law.
  • Fluency in Spanish (both written and spoken) strongly recommended.
  • Ability to manage cases independently and work collaboratively with support staff.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in California (California Bar).

Skills

  • Immigration Law: Strong understanding of removal defense, USCIS procedures, and family court practices (SIJS).
  • Legal Writing & Research: Proficient in writing motions, briefs, and conducting legal research.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including client interaction.
  • Case Management: Ability to manage a caseload effectively while meeting deadlines.
  • Bilingual: Proficient in both English and Spanish (reading, writing, speaking).
