A law firm seeks an enthusiastic Associate Attorney specializing in student services and disabilities. This role is designed for candidates with a passion for education law and an interest in supporting students from preschool through 12th grade. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced attorneys and contribute to a vital area of legal practice.

Duties

  • Provide support to senior associates, of counsel, and partners in various legal matters related to student services and disabilities.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and draft clear, concise written documents.
  • Assist in advising clients on issues concerning special education, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Support clients in navigating student-related litigation and interactions with regulatory bodies, including the California Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH), California Department of Education (CDE), and the Federal Office for Civil Rights (OCR).
  • Collaborate with team members to develop effective legal strategies and solutions for clients.

Requirements

  • 0-5 years of legal experience, preferably in education law or related fields.
  • Strong research and writing abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the capacity to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice law in California and in good standing.

Skills

  • Proficient legal writing and research skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
