The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in life sciences and patent prosecution, with a focus on organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, cell biology, immunology, molecular biology, microbiology, oncology, gene editing, gene therapy, or related fields.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct patent prosecution, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
• Perform patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
• Conduct intellectual property due diligence in corporate transactions.
• Advise clients on patent strategy and portfolio management.
• Participate in patent litigation and post-grant proceedings.
• Collaborate with scientists and inventors to understand inventions and draft patent applications.

Requirements

• JD degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Bar in the jurisdiction of New York.
• Membership in (or eligibility for membership in) the Bar of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
• 1+ years of legal practice experience, preferably in intellectual property law at a law firm.
• Strong academic credentials, including a PhD (or MD with research experience) in one of the specified life sciences fields.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
