Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking a Senior Healthcare Reimbursement Attorney with over 10 years of experience in healthcare billing, reimbursement, and compliance matters. This role is ideal for an attorney with expertise in Medicare, Medicaid, VA/Tricare, and federal fraud and abuse laws such as the Anti-Kickback Statute, the Stark Law, and the False Claims Act. The attorney will work closely with healthcare providers, including hospitals, physicians, academic medical centers, and skilled nursing facilities, to ensure compliance with billing and reimbursement regulations, as well as to navigate complex legal challenges within the healthcare sector.

Duties:

  • Advise healthcare clients, including hospitals, physicians, and health systems, on billing and reimbursement requirements, compliance, and claims submission processes.
  • Provide legal guidance on structuring business relationships to ensure compliance with federal healthcare laws, including the Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, and the False Claims Act.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop strategies that address fraud and abuse concerns, enrollment processes, and billing practices.
  • Represent clients in matters related to private payors, healthcare reimbursement policies, and regulatory changes.
  • Draft legal documents, memoranda, and policies related to healthcare reimbursement.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state healthcare regulations, enforcement actions, and industry best practices.
  • Foster strong client relationships through proactive and strategic legal guidance.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in healthcare law, particularly in billing, reimbursement, and compliance.
  • Extensive knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, VA/Tricare programs, and federal fraud and abuse regulations (including the Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, and False Claims Act).
  • Proven track record in advising healthcare providers on legal matters related to healthcare reimbursement, claims submission, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with private payor reimbursement and healthcare billing processes is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple client matters simultaneously and work in a team-oriented environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar membership in Washington, DC, or the ability to obtain membership.

Skills:

  • Expertise in healthcare reimbursement laws and regulations.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical abilities.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
