Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking an experienced Intellectual Property (IP) Associate with expertise in software, computer science, electrical, or mechanical engineering to join their dynamic and growing Intellectual Property Group. Duties:

  • Manage multiple legal matters simultaneously, handling both high-level strategic aspects and detailed legal tasks from inception to conclusion.
  • Communicate effectively with attorneys and clients, ensuring the highest quality of legal work.
  • Work independently while demonstrating productivity and a keen interest in Intellectual Property law.
  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications, providing patentability and clearance opinions.
  • Conduct patent estate management, licensing, and enforcement.
  • Ensure compliance with the highest ethical standards of the legal profession.
  • Contribute to business development efforts, both individually and as part of a group.

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in good standing in one or more jurisdictions where the firm operates.
  • Registered to practice before the USPTO.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, showing leadership potential.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to delegate effectively and work closely with support staff or junior associates.
  • Ability to meet billable hour requirements while maintaining a high standard of legal service.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in one or more jurisdictions.
  • USPTO registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Skills:

  • Expertise in software, computer science, electrical, or mechanical engineering is highly preferred.
  • Strong decision-making ability with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to lead client teams and develop business.
