Associate Attorney with insurance defense litigation experience

A law firm in Roseland, NJ, is seeking an Associate Attorney with insurance defense litigation experience to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing their own caseload with oversight from senior partners, handling a variety of legal tasks including drafting documents, conducting depositions, and participating in trials. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and familiarity with NJ & NY Civil Court Rules.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage an assigned caseload with oversight from partners.
• Draft motions, pleadings, and discovery responses.
• Conduct legal research and prepare detailed memorandums.
• Attend hearings and court conferences to represent clients.
• Conduct and defend depositions; attend inspections as needed.
• Consult with and manage expert witnesses to support case strategies.
• Participate in mediations and negotiate settlements.
• Prepare for and attend trials, including trial preparation and strategy development.

Requirements:

• 1 to 5 years of insurance defense litigation experience.
• Superior written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Familiarity with NJ & NY Civil Court Rules.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Education:

• Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admitted to practice law in New Jersey (NJ).
• Admitted to practice law in New York (NY) is a plus.

Skills:

• Excellent drafting skills for motions, pleadings, and discovery responses.
• Strong research and writing abilities for legal memorandums.
• Effective communication skills for hearings, depositions, and trials.
• Proficiency in managing and consulting with expert witnesses.
