A law firm seeks an Associate Litigation Attorney to join its expanding team in Brentwood, TN. This position offers a dynamic and collaborative environment where attorneys will assist in trial preparation and litigation management. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in legal research and writing, a passion for litigation, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.

Duties:

  • Assist senior associates with trial and hearing preparation.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and memoranda.
  • Handle discovery requests and responses, ensuring compliance with deadlines.
  • Manage and track case-related deadlines to ensure timely filings.
  • Communicate with opposing counsel, clerks, and court chambers regarding hearings, trials, and depositions.
  • Represent the firm in procedural and administrative hearings as needed.
  • Collaborate with other team members to handle multiple cases efficiently.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Must hold a valid license to practice law in Tennessee or plan to obtain it within six months of hire.
  • A law school GPA of 3.0 or higher, or placement within the top 30% of your class, is preferred.
  • Proven interest in litigation through previous work experience or participation in Moot Court, Trial Advocacy, or Law Journal.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Competency in legal research, especially with LexisNexis.
  • Experience with the Clio practice management system is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Proficiency in Office 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat Professional for tasks such as Bates stamping.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Valid Tennessee Bar license (or must obtain within six months of hire).

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing abilities.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong ability to manage deadlines.
  • Good work ethic and ability to adapt in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and clients.
  • Proficiency in legal software and technology, including Clio and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
