Job Overview:
A national law firm specializing in tribal law is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to represent tribal governments and businesses across the United States. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal services, managing client relationships, and engaging in complex litigation, government negotiations, and federal law applications as it relates to tribal sovereignty and business operations.

Location:

  • Tempe, AZ

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel to clients and represent them in various legal matters while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Participate in business development functions (such as trade shows and seminars) to build client relationships and expand business.
  • Travel to client meetings and off-site functions as needed.
  • Apply legal knowledge in business issues, legal procedures, and statutes to provide effective client counsel.
  • Communicate with opposing counsel to expedite cases to closure.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, pleadings, and documents for state, federal, and tribal litigation matters.
  • Attend hearings and trials as assigned.
  • Draft and review tribal codes, regulations, and legal agreements.
  • Continuously interact with clients to understand their needs and provide legal advice.
  • Comply with court and state bar licensure obligations, including continuing legal education (CLE) requirements.
  • Follow the firm’s policies and employee handbook guidelines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to relevant state bar and in good standing.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel for client meetings and legal functions as needed.
  • Completion of a personality assessment may be required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the relevant state bar and certification of good standing.
