A law firm in Houston, TX is seeking a skilled Criminal Defense Attorney to join their team. Reporting to the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney, the candidate will manage a caseload, interact with clients, and provide expert legal representation in criminal cases. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is required, and candidates should possess exceptional interpersonal skills.

 

Duties:

  • Manage a caseload of criminal defense matters, providing legal representation to clients.
  • Advise clients on their legal rights and options, and draft legal documents related to their cases.
  • Attend pretrial hearings and provide strategic advice to clients following each hearing.
  • Conduct court appearances, trials, and other legal proceedings on behalf of clients.
  • Draft motions, interview witnesses, and conduct legal research to support clients' cases.
  • Analyze potential case outcomes based on legal precedents and evidence.
  • Provide legal analysis to clients, identifying potential case benefits and strategies.
  • Gather additional evidence to support clients' cases and challenge prosecution's charges.
  • Prepare clients for depositions and gather information from witnesses and experts.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in Texas.
  • 4-5 years of experience in criminal defense.
  • Experience handling complex criminal cases at federal, state, and local levels.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the State Bar of Texas.

  • Strong knowledge of criminal law and procedures.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a high caseload and meet deadlines.
