Associate Attorney Defense Litigation

Job Overview:
A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to join its dynamic Defense Litigation team in Chicago, Illinois. This position focuses on Nursing Home Defense, Medical Malpractice, and General Litigation. The role requires an in-office presence in downtown Chicago, offering an excellent opportunity to work alongside a skilled team in a collaborative environment.

Duties:

• Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and related filings.
• Manage the discovery process, including preparing and responding to written discovery, conducting depositions, and reviewing evidence.
• Represent clients in court proceedings, including hearings, motions, and trials.
• Negotiate settlements with opposing parties to resolve disputes effectively.
• Perform detailed legal research and analysis to develop case strategies.
• Summarize depositions, analyze case files, and prepare comprehensive reports.
• Collaborate with internal teams and maintain open communication with clients.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited U.S. law school.
• Licensed to practice law in Illinois or recently completed the Illinois Bar Examination and awaiting results.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey complex legal concepts.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines.
• Familiarity with legal billing software and court procedures.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited U.S. law school.

Certifications:

• Active Illinois State Bar license or pending results from the Illinois Bar Examination.
