The ideal candidate will have substantial experience defending wage and hour litigation, including class actions, and a strong understanding of California and federal wage and hour laws. Duties:

  • Defend against wage and hour litigation, including class actions, focusing on California and federal wage and hour laws.
  • Prepare and respond to written discovery requests with limited supervision and oversight.
  • Conducted depositions and handled motion practice related to discovery issues.
  • Develop and execute discovery plans for ongoing litigation.
  • Draft and oppose motions for class certification in wage and hour matters.
  • Interface with clients to address legal and strategic issues, maintaining high professionalism and competence.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure thorough follow-through on all case-related matters.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience defending wage and hour litigation, preferably including class actions.
  • Proven knowledge and experience with California and federal wage and hour laws, including overtime and meal and rest periods.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and respond to written discovery with minimal oversight.
  • Experience with deposition practice and motion practice involving discovery issues.
  • Competence in creating and implementing discovery plans.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the California State Bar.

Skills:

  • Excellent writing skills, particularly in drafting and opposing motions for class certification.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage complex litigation matters and develop strategic approaches.
  • Professional demeanor and competence in client interactions.
  • Effective follow-through and organizational skills.
