Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced EOIR Immigration Attorney to join its legal team in Austin, TX. This role presents a valuable opportunity to advocate for individuals facing removal proceedings, providing skilled legal representation and strategic counsel. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in immigration law, capable of managing a diverse caseload, and committed to delivering exceptional client service.

Duties

  • Represent detained and non-detained clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court, USCIS, and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Prepare and file defensive immigration applications, including I-589, 42A, 42B, I-485, SIJS, and requests for prosecutorial discretion.
  • Review and oversee USCIS filings, including I-130 petitions, I-601A waivers, and U-Visa applications.
  • Conduct client consultations to assess case strategy and provide legal analysis.
  • Supervise and collaborate with a team of paralegals to ensure high-quality case preparation and client service.
  • Draft and submit legal memoranda, motions, and briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience handling immigration law matters.
  • Strong ability to collaborate and contribute to a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in handling Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR proceedings, Detained cases, Citizenship applications, and USCIS filings.
  • Experience with case management software is a plus.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage and advance legal cases.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction.

Certifications

  • Must be in good standing with the relevant state bar.
