Job Overview:
A law firm seeks an experienced Associate Attorney to join its well-regarded land use, public agency, and environmental law practice in Sacramento, CA. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile cases involving land use regulations, environmental compliance, and public agency matters. The ideal candidate will be motivated, independent, and committed to delivering exceptional legal counsel.

Duties:

  • Provide legal advice and advocacy on matters related to land use, environmental law, and public agency regulations.

  • Represent clients in transactional matters, administrative proceedings, and litigation.

  • Research and draft legal documents, including memoranda, pleadings, and contracts.

  • Collaborate with team members to develop strategies for complex legal issues.

  • Engage in public outreach, legal education, and marketing efforts to promote the firm’s services.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in land use, environmental, or public agency law.

  • Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.

  • Proven ability to manage significant legal projects independently or as part of a team.

  • Experience handling matters related to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, Proposition 218, Brown Act, and Public Records Act.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

  • Active membership in the California State Bar.

Certifications:

  • No additional certifications required; however, relevant legal specializations or memberships in environmental or land use law organizations are a plus.

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research and writing abilities.

  • Strong verbal communication and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients, government agencies, and stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
