A law firm in Houston, TX is seeking a dedicated Patent Attorney to join its patent prosecution team. The successful candidate will possess a robust technical background and substantial experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications. Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Conduct due diligence, including prior art searches, patentability assessments, and analysis.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to ensure precise and timely patent filings.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple assignments from various partners and clients, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Prepare and file responses to Office Actions and other communications from the USPTO.
  • Review and analyze patent portfolios to provide strategic advice and recommendations.
  • Stay updated on changes in patent law and relevant technological advancements.
  • Assist in preparing legal documents, reports, and intellectual property strategies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in patent prosecution, utilizing technical expertise to support clients in patenting their innovations.
  • Registration to practice before the USPTO and Patent Bar eligibility required.
  • If applicable, licensed to practice law in the respective state.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, writing skills, and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • USPTO registration and Patent Bar eligibility required.
  • State law practice license preferred but not mandatory.
