A reputable law firm in Houston, TX, is seeking a Family Law Attorney passionate about representing clients during emotionally challenging times. This role involves managing complex family law cases, including divorce, child custody, alimony, and property division. The ideal candidate has a background in family law and real estate, with experience in handling sensitive legal matters such as child custody and domestic violence.

Duties

  • Prepare a range of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, judgments, and orders.
  • Organize and maintain client files to ensure cases are up-to-date.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and paralegals to efficiently advance cases through the litigation process.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings as necessary.
  • Oversee the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings.
  • Bill a minimum of 120 hours per month on assigned cases.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in family law.
  • 1-2 years of experience with real estate issues related to marital property.
  • Background in criminal justice or other relevant legal fields (preferred).
  • Ability to work independently without assistance from a paralegal or legal assistant.
  • Proficiency in on-camera communication for social media content.
  • Comfortable managing cases independently in a remote environment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Undergraduate degree with a background in legal studies.

Certifications

  • Active member in good standing with the American Bar Association (ABA).

Skills

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, particularly in high-stress and emotional situations.
  • Excellent organizational and self-motivation abilities for a remote position.
  • Familiarity with family law and real estate matters related to marital property.
