Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a Mid-Level Nonprofit and Association Associate Attorney with 4+ years of experience, preferably in a law firm environment. The ideal candidate will have legal expertise in representing tax-exempt organizations and additional experience in contracts, governance, corporate structures, component/affiliate relations, licensing, membership programs, and lobbying. Admission to the Virginia Bar is required.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and representation to nonprofit and association clients.
  • Draft and review contracts, bylaws, and other legal documents.
  • Advise clients on governance issues and corporate structures.
  • Assist with component/affiliate relations and licensing matters.
  • Develop and implement membership programs.
  • Guide lobbying activities and compliance.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis as needed.
  • Represent clients in negotiations, hearings, and other legal proceedings.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and support staff on client matters.
  • Stay updated on relevant legal developments and industry trends.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Virginia Bar.
  • 4+ years of legal experience, preferably in a law firm setting.
  • Experience representing tax-exempt organizations is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with contracts, governance, corporate structures, and licensing.
  • Knowledge of membership programs and lobbying regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Virginia State Bar.
