Labor Law Associate Attorney

A law firm in New York City, NY, is seeking a dedicated Labor Law Associate Attorney with a strong commitment to the labor movement. The ideal candidate will possess excellent critical thinking, research, and writing skills, and be comfortable interacting with clients and exercising independent judgment. They should be prepared to take on significant responsibilities for cases from the outset of their tenure.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct legal research and analysis on labor law issues, including collective bargaining agreements, employment contracts, and labor disputes.
• Draft legal documents such as complaints, motions, briefs, and settlement agreements.
• Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, and administrative proceedings before labor boards and agencies.
• Provide strategic advice and counsel to clients on labor relations and compliance matters.
• Prepare for and participate in hearings and trials related to labor disputes.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners on complex labor law cases.
• Manage client relationships and maintain regular communication regarding case status and strategy.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the New York State Bar; additional bar admissions may be advantageous.
• 0-3 years of experience in labor law, including internships or clerkships focused on labor relations.
• Demonstrated commitment to the labor movement and advocacy for workers' rights.
• Strong critical thinking skills and ability to analyze complex legal issues.
• Excellent research and writing skills, with experience drafting legal documents.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Comfortable interacting with clients and exercising independent judgment.
