A law firm in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will be licensed to practice law in California and have 1-2 years of employment litigation experience. The role involves extensive client contact and includes conducting witness interviews, managing discovery, taking and defending depositions, and handling various motions and case management tasks. Experience with trial, mediation, or other dispute resolution processes is preferred, and experience in the public sector is a plus.

Duties:

  • Conduct substantive witness interviews to gather evidence and information.
  • Manage discovery processes, including document review and production.
  • Take and defend depositions, preparing witnesses and managing deposition logistics.
  • Appear regularly in court to defend and argue motions, including dispositive motions such as demurrers, anti-SLAPP motions, motions for judgment, and motions for summary judgment.
  • Handle case management responsibilities, ensuring all case-related tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Draft dispositive motions and other legal documents related to case strategy and resolution.
  • Participate in trial preparation and courtroom appearances, including mediations and other dispute resolution processes.
  • Provide ongoing client contact and maintain effective communication throughout the litigation process.
  • Utilize knowledge of employment matters, including wage and hour laws, PAGA, and FSLA, to support case outcomes.
  • Experience in the public sector is a plus.

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of California.
  • 1-2 years of experience in employment litigation, including wage and hour, PAGA, and FSLA matters.
  • Proven ability to manage discovery, conduct depositions, and handle various motions and case management tasks.
  • Experience with trial, mediation, or other dispute resolution processes is preferred.
  • Experience in the public sector is a plus.
  • Strong client communication skills and ability to manage extensive client contact.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar of California.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in conducting witness interviews, managing discovery, and drafting legal documents.
  • Experience in taking and defending depositions and handling dispositive motions.
  • Knowledge of employment law, including wage and hour, PAGA, and FSLA.
  • Strong organizational and case management skills.
  • Ability to appear and argue motions in court effectively.
  • Experience with trial, mediation, or other dispute resolution processes is preferred.
  • Effective client communication and interpersonal skills.
