Associate Attorney - Insurance Defense & Civil Litigation

A law firm seeks a dedicated and motivated Associate Attorney to join its growing team in Phoenix, AZ. The firm specializes in a variety of litigation matters, including insurance defense, commercial disputes, construction litigation, and personal injury. The role involves managing a diverse caseload, collaborating closely with senior attorneys, and contributing to the overall success of the practice. Ideal candidates will be licensed in Arizona, have strong legal knowledge, and possess excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and external parties.

Duties

• Handle cases in insurance defense, including automobile liability, bad-faith claims, and contractual disputes.
• Assist in general civil litigation, including business litigation, legal malpractice, and professional liability matters.
• Work closely with partners to develop case strategies and represent clients effectively.
• Manage a varied caseload, ensuring timely completion of all litigation tasks.
• Draft legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and discovery requests.
• Conduct legal research and provide advice on legal issues relevant to cases.
• Participate in client meetings, case reviews, and settlement negotiations.
• Represent clients in court appearances and depositions.
• Ensure that all case documentation is up to date and filed appropriately.
• Contribute to the growth and development of the firm through active collaboration and professional development.

Requirements

• 2-4 years of experience in insurance defense or general civil litigation.
• Strong understanding of Arizona state law, particularly in insurance defense and civil litigation matters.
• Ability to independently manage a caseload with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and thoroughness.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in Arizona.

Skills

• Strong legal research and writing abilities.
• Proficient in case management, including managing legal documents and filings.
• Skilled in client interaction and professional communication.
• Experience with depositions, hearings, and court appearances.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Knowledge of insurance defense, construction litigation, and personal injury law is a plus.
