A law firm seeks a skilled Patent Agent with at least one year of patent prosecution experience to join its team in Los Angeles, CA. This role is ideal for individuals with technical expertise in electrical engineering, computer science, or related fields, although candidates with degrees in mechanical engineering, physics, or software will also be considered.

Duties:

  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications for a variety of technologies, including electrical, mechanical, and software-related inventions.
  • Collaborate with inventors and attorneys to conduct technical research and ensure patent applications are accurate and compliant.
  • Assist in patent portfolio management and provide strategic advice on patent prosecution.
  • Conduct prior art searches and analysis to determine patentability and assist in client consultations.
  • Work closely with internal legal teams and clients to address patent office actions and manage prosecution deadlines.

Requirements:

  • At least one year of experience in patent prosecution.
  • Strong technical background in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field. Candidates with degrees in mechanical engineering, physics, or software development will also be considered.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical information and translate it into clear patent applications.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills to work effectively with clients and team members.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical field (e.g., electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, physics, or software development).

Certifications:

  • Must be registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate patentability and navigate complex legal requirements.
