Job Title: Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A well-established law firm is seeking a motivated and skilled Associate Attorney to join their legal team in Kansas City, MO. This position offers an exciting opportunity to handle various aspects of litigation, including court appearances, motion drafting, and trial preparation. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to manage a high volume of cases while maintaining excellent communication with clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.

Duties:

• Prepare for and attend court appearances, ensuring punctuality and thorough handling of cases.
• Coordinate court coverage for any missed appearances, including documentation of required orders and results.
• Draft, review, and file motions and responses as needed throughout the litigation.
• Assist with trial and arbitration preparation, including potential overnight travel to outlying counties.
• Communicate effectively with clients, consumer employers, and opposing attorneys to resolve legal matters.

Requirements:

• Active license to practice law in Kansas and Missouri (additional state licenses are a plus).
• Reliable transportation for consistent court appearances.
• Ability to handle frequent travel, with mileage reimbursement and approved travel expenses.
• Strong multitasking ability and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active Bar membership in Kansas and Missouri (additional state certifications are advantageous).

Skills:

• High proficiency in legal research and writing.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Excellent negotiation and client-facing communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a busy caseload efficiently.
