A law firm in Clearwater, FL, is seeking an Associate Attorney who is a member of the Florida Bar or a recent JD graduate. The position involves conducting legal and factual research, participating in hearings, depositions, motion practice, discovery processes, communications with clients and courts, as well as document compilation and review. Preference will be given to candidates with technology proficiency, exceptional writing skills, business or community contacts, and experience in construction, insurance, or commercial law. Bilingual proficiency is desirable for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct legal and factual research on various legal issues.
  • Assist in preparing for and attending hearings, depositions, and other court proceedings.
  • Draft legal documents, including motions, pleadings, briefs, and discovery requests and responses.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, courts, and opposing counsel.
  • Compile and review documents for discovery purposes and trial preparation.
  • Assist in negotiations and settlement discussions as needed.

Requirements:

  • Membership in good standing with the Florida Bar or recent Juris Doctor (JD) graduate awaiting Bar results.
  • Strong proficiency in legal and factual research methodologies.
  • Experience or coursework in litigation procedures, including motion practice and discovery.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in technology relevant to legal practice.
  • Preferably bilingual (English/Spanish or another relevant language).

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Florida Bar or pending Bar admission.
