Duties:

  • Provide expert legal advice on a wide array of export control issues and government contracts.
  • Navigate regulatory matters, including compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
  • Advise clients on contract disputes, defense of claims, and government investigations.
  • Represent clients before regulatory bodies such as the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) and the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective legal support tailored to client needs.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in advising clients on export controls and government contracts.
  • Demonstrated expertise in export control laws and regulations, with a preference for candidates experienced in advising government contractors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively articulate legal advice to clients.
  • Must be in good standing with the DC Bar or eligible for admission promptly.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the District of Columbia Bar is required; other State Bar memberships are a plus.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in regulatory compliance and risk management.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on attention to detail.
  • Experience with litigation and administrative proceedings is desirable.
