A law firm seeks a Litigation Associate Attorney to join its team in Traverse City, Michigan. This role provides an exciting opportunity for an individual with up to 5 years of experience in litigation, particularly in personal injury and civil litigation cases. The attorney will manage a caseload across northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, with exposure to municipal defense and Federal Court MDL cases. Duties:

  • Independently manage a personal injury caseload, handling cases across northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.
  • Assist in general civil litigation matters as needed.
  • Participate in municipal defense work and federal court Multi-District Litigation (MDL) cases.
  • Research and draft legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and discovery responses.
  • Engage in negotiations and settlement discussions with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties involved.
  • Represent clients in court hearings and trials as required.
  • Maintain client relationships, ensuring timely updates and communication on case progress.

Requirements:

  • 0-5 years of litigation experience, with a focus on personal injury cases.
  • Strong background in civil litigation is preferred.
  • Experience with municipal defense and federal MDL cases is a plus.
  • Ability to manage a full caseload and work independently.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented, and client-focused approach to work.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Michigan.

Skills:

  • Solid litigation experience, particularly in personal injury and civil cases.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
  • Proficient in legal research and drafting of legal documents.
