Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking a Junior Associate to join its Data Privacy and Cybersecurity team. Duties:

  • Handle privacy incident response and provide compliance counseling to clients across various industries.
  • Advise on risk management strategies related to data privacy.
  • Assist with privacy litigation, including managing cases involving state and federal privacy laws.
  • Stay updated on evolving privacy laws and regulations such as CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and state-specific biometric and health laws.
  • Work directly with partners and clients on matters related to data privacy and cybersecurity.
  • Draft legal documents, including privacy policies, risk assessments, and compliance frameworks.
  • Participate in client meetings, providing clear legal advice on privacy-related matters.

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, or related legal fields.
  • Knowledge of privacy incident response, compliance counseling, and risk management.
  • Familiarity with state and federal privacy laws, including CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and state biometric and health laws.
  • Active State Bar admission.
  • CIPP/US certification required, or the candidate must obtain the certification within one year of hire.
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under pressure.

Education:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • CIPP/US certification (must be obtained within one year of hire if not already certified).
  • Admission to the State Bar in the jurisdiction where the candidate will practice.

Skills:

  • Expertise in data privacy laws and cybersecurity regulations.
  • Strong understanding of privacy incident response and compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
