Job Duties:

  • Communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, and stakeholders to understand patent-related needs and strategies.
  • Prepare, draft, and prosecute high-quality patent applications in the field of molecular biology.
  • Conduct prior art searches and analyze technical literature to support patentability assessments.
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance on patent portfolio management and development.
  • Collaborate with attorneys on patent litigation, opinions, licensing, and due diligence projects.
  • Maintain accurate and timely billing records by firm policies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in molecular biology or a related field; advanced degree (PhD) preferred.
  • Registration as a Patent Agent with the USPTO.
  • 2+ years of experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications, preferably in a law firm setting.
  • Familiarity with patent litigation, opinions, licensing, and due diligence processes is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Proven research, problem-solving, and conceptual thinking skills.

Education and Certifications:

  • 4-year Bachelor's degree in molecular biology or a related field.
  • Advanced degree (PhD) in molecular and cellular biology or similar disciplines (excluding chemistry, medical device, or pharmaceutical sciences) preferred.
  • Registration as a Patent Agent with the USPTO.
