Job Overview: A prestigious law firm is seeking a highly qualified Senior Associate to join its Global Trade practice. This position offers an opportunity to counsel clients on economic sanctions, particularly those administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). The role involves working with clients in the technology sector and advising cryptocurrency actors on sanctions compliance, while contributing to corporate transactions.

Location:

  • Washington, DC

Duties:

  • Counsel clients on OFAC-administered economic sanctions.

  • Provide legal advice to technology sector clients and cryptocurrency actors on sanctions compliance.

  • Support corporate transactions with sanctions-related guidance.

  • Conduct legal research and draft legal memoranda, contracts, and reports.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders on global trade compliance matters.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of international sanctions laws and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Strong experience counseling clients on economic sanctions administered by OFAC.

  • Background in corporate transactions, particularly in relation to sanctions compliance.

  • Proven experience advising clients in the technology sector and cryptocurrency space.

  • Excellent analytical, writing, and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active bar admission or eligibility to obtain admission promptly.

Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of economic sanctions and global trade laws.

  • Strong legal research and analytical capabilities.

  • Effective client management and advisory skills.

  • Excellent negotiation and contract drafting skills.
