Immigration Attorney

A law firm in Bakersfield, CA is seeking a dedicated Immigration Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Sr. Associate Attorney, manage a caseload, and engage in client interactions. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with a skilled Immigration Team and handle a variety of immigration matters, including removal proceedings and family-based petitions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Report to the Sr. Associate Attorney and manage an individual caseload with client interactions.
• Collaborate with the Immigration Team of Attorneys and legal assistants.
• Explain complex immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
• Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
• Visit and conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers.
• Prepare and file diverse immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
• Review immigration applications/packets, making necessary adjustments and ensuring accuracy.
• Work with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law.
• Meet with potential clients for strategic immigration consultations and develop effective case strategies.
• Develop legal strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony.
• Provide thorough legal analysis to determine potential benefits and outcomes of cases.
• Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.
• Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred.
• Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills and a proven ability to manage and advance legal cases efficiently.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the State Bar association.
• 1 to 4 years of experience in Immigration Law.
• Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR matters, Legal Writing, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
• Experience with Case Management Software is preferred.
• Proven ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward effectively.
