Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking a skilled and compassionate Estate and Trust Litigation Associate Attorney to join its litigation team. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex fiduciary duty litigation, contested guardianships and conservatorships, and other business disputes. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of litigation experience, excellent organizational and communication skills, and a strong commitment to delivering exceptional client service. This role provides a dynamic environment, working closely with senior attorneys and a talented support team to handle a variety of litigation matters.

Duties:

  • Serve as the primary attorney contact for clients on litigation cases.
  • Conduct legal research, cite checking, and draft key legal documents including complaints, motions, briefs, and pleadings.
  • Prepare and organize exhibits for trials.
  • Represent clients in court appearances and trial proceedings.
  • Assess potential clients’ cases, including evaluating suitability, conflicts of interest, and case profitability.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and other team members to meet case deadlines and develop effective legal strategies.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to junior associates, paralegals, and support staff to ensure efficient case handling.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients, providing timely responses to their inquiries.
  • Develop subject matter expertise in estate planning and asset protection strategies.
  • Contribute to professional development and team growth through continuous learning.

Requirements:

  • Active membership in the Virginia State Bar (Maryland and DC Bar memberships are a plus).
  • Minimum of 2 years of litigation experience in state and federal courts.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in legal research and drafting legal documents.
  • Ability to think critically, solve problems, and provide strategic legal advice.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor under pressure.
