Job Title: Litigation Associate Attorney
Location: Billings, MT

Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is looking for a motivated and skilled Litigation Associate Attorney to join its team. This position offers the opportunity to work on commercial litigation as well as energy and environmental litigation matters. The firm is open to candidates interested in working remotely from Helena, with in-person attendance required for some court hearings or client meetings.

Duties:

  • Manage and assist with complex commercial and environmental litigation cases, including energy and property rights matters.
  • Conduct legal research, prepare memoranda, and draft various legal documents such as motions, briefs, and discovery responses.
  • Participate in case strategy development and collaborate with senior attorneys on client matters.
  • Represent clients in hearings, depositions, and other litigation proceedings.
  • Maintain strong communication with clients, colleagues, and opposing counsel to ensure case progress and client satisfaction.
  • Take initiative in managing tasks and projects with minimal supervision.
  • Contribute to the team environment through collaborative efforts and mentorship of junior associates.
  • Perform additional duties as needed based on case workload and firm needs.

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience in complex litigation, preferably in commercial, energy, or environmental law.
  • Strong background in legal research, writing, and analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated interest and skills in team collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Judicial clerkship experience or law school involvement (e.g., moot court, law review) preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar in Montana, or eligibility to gain admission through reciprocity.

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an emphasis on client service.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage competing tasks.

Job Location:
Billings, MT (Remote work from Helena is also an option with occasional travel to Billings required).
