Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking a Litigation Attorney to join their Denver office. This role will focus on resolving complex construction disputes through litigation, arbitration, mediation, and other dispute resolution methods. The successful candidate will assist industry-leading clients in all phases of construction claims, from risk management and compliance to contract negotiation. This position offers a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with exposure to high-stakes construction projects.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in construction-related disputes, including litigation, arbitration, mediation, and dispute resolution board actions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate construction agreements.
  • Advise project teams on risk management, regulatory compliance, and legal matters throughout the lifecycle of construction projects.
  • Provide legal guidance on issues related to construction contracts, including mechanic’s lien law, substitution bonds, payment and performance bonds, and insurance.
  • Use strong legal research and writing skills to offer practical solutions to construction industry challenges.
  • Strategize with project teams before, during, and after construction phases to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risks.

Requirements:

  • 3-7 years of experience as an associate attorney, with a focus on construction law (preferred).
  • Admission to practice law in Colorado, California, Arizona, or Oregon.
  • Strong knowledge of construction-industry topics, including mechanic’s lien law, insurance, public contracting, and payment bonds.
  • Familiarity with standard construction-industry agreements such as EJCDC, AIA, ConsensusDocs, DBIA, and CMAA.
  • Experience in project support and contract administration is a plus.
  • Strong academic credentials and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for the construction industry and a desire to work on high-profile construction disputes.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice in Colorado, California, Arizona, or Oregon.

Skills:

  • Expertise in construction law and dispute resolution methods (litigation, arbitration, mediation).
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and legal research skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Knowledge of construction contract forms and regulatory compliance issues.
  • Excellent communication and client management skills.
