Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking an Indiana-licensed Associate Attorney with at least 2 years of litigation experience to join its defense litigation team in the Hammond, IN office. Location:

Duties:

  • Independently manage a litigation caseload from start to finish

  • Attend court hearings in various counties and courthouses

  • Monitor case files to ensure deadlines are met

  • Investigate facts and legal matters to determine causes of action

  • Conduct legal research, analyze, and interpret law sources such as statutes, rules, regulations, ordinances, court decisions, and legal opinions

  • Assist with document review and analysis

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues on various litigation matters

Requirements:

  • Indiana Bar membership (Illinois license preferred)

  • 2+ years of litigation experience, preferably in defense litigation and insurance coverage

  • Deposition experience is required

  • Ability to manage a caseload and handle all aspects of litigation

  • Strong organizational, research, and communication skills (both verbal and written)

  • Must be able to provide writing samples

  • Interest in litigating across various practice areas

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Indiana Bar (Illinois Bar preferred)

Skills:

  • Strong litigation and deposition skills

  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines

  • Proficient in legal writing and document review

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
