Job Overview: A law firm is seeking an Indiana-licensed Associate Attorney with at least 2 years of litigation experience to join its defense litigation team in the Hammond, IN office. Duties:
Independently manage a litigation caseload from start to finish
Attend court hearings in various counties and courthouses
Monitor case files to ensure deadlines are met
Investigate facts and legal matters to determine causes of action
Conduct legal research, analyze, and interpret law sources such as statutes, rules, regulations, ordinances, court decisions, and legal opinions
Assist with document review and analysis
Work collaboratively with colleagues on various litigation matters
Requirements:
Indiana Bar membership (Illinois license preferred)
2+ years of litigation experience, preferably in defense litigation and insurance coverage
Deposition experience is required
Ability to manage a caseload and handle all aspects of litigation
Strong organizational, research, and communication skills (both verbal and written)
Must be able to provide writing samples
Interest in litigating across various practice areas
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active membership in the Indiana Bar (Illinois Bar preferred)
Skills:
Strong litigation and deposition skills
Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines
Proficient in legal writing and document review
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
