A law firm seeks a talented and motivated attorney with experience in public finance or transactional law to join its team as a Career Associate in Wheeling, WV. This role involves handling a wide variety of public finance matters, including municipal bonds, nonprofit financings, public-private partnerships, and regulatory issues. The position offers an alternative to the traditional partnership track, with a focus on providing meaningful and rewarding legal work while supporting a balanced approach to work and personal commitments.

Duties

  • Manage a variety of public finance transactions, including municipal bonds, notes, and obligations for public infrastructure and nonprofit projects.
  • Assist clients with tax-exempt and taxable financing solutions, including for educational, healthcare, housing, and cultural facilities.
  • Handle audits, investigations, and compliance matters involving the IRS and SEC.
  • Support public-private partnerships, securitizations, and financings for tribal, water, wastewater, energy, and multifamily housing projects.
  • Conduct due diligence, draft legal documents, and provide strategic advice to clients.
  • Participate in bankruptcies, workouts, and secondary market transactions.
  • Collaborate with legal teams to deliver innovative and client-focused solutions.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in public finance, transactional law, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated skills in writing, document drafting, and diligence review.
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
  • Strong motivation and a proactive approach to handling complex legal matters.
  • Membership in the West Virginia Bar or eligibility to waive in.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the WV State Bar or another applicable jurisdiction.
