A law firm in Wilmington, NC is seeking a highly experienced Personal Injury Trial Attorney to handle and develop strategy for complex personal injury cases. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies for complex personal injury cases, including trucking and catastrophic injury cases.
  • Work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment to ensure comprehensive case management.
  • Connect with clients empathetically to understand their stories and advocate effectively on their behalf.
  • Manage all case-related settings, including mediations, arbitrations, depositions, hearings, trials, and client interactions.
  • Present persuasive arguments in court, demonstrating confidence and poise.
  • Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations to guide clients and develop case strategies.
  • Analyze legal and medical data to assess insurance coverage, liability, and damages.
  • Conduct thorough research, prepare settlement brochures, and develop strategic arguments for case presentations.
  • Ensure legal compliance regarding disbursements and settlement funds.
  • Utilize technology effectively to enhance case management and legal practices.
  • Establish and build professional relationships within the community to support the firm's brand, marketing efforts, and client service.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Membership in the North Carolina State Bar is required; additional State Bar memberships are a plus.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of civil litigation experience with at least 15 cases tried to verdict in North Carolina Superior Court or United States District Court.
  • Proven experience as the Lead Attorney in successfully litigating complex personal injury cases to verdicts in state and federal courts.
  • Preferable affiliation with or membership in trade groups focused on catastrophic injury cases, such as DRI, National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys, NC Trucking Association, Trucking Industry Defense Association, or Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise extensive independent judgment and make critical decisions.
  • Experience in instructing, directing, and mentoring team members while maintaining collaborative client and team relationships.
