Duties:

  • Provide expert guidance on immigration law matters, presenting strategic legal solutions.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Handle a diverse caseload, ensuring timely and effective case management.
  • Visit detained individuals at facilities, conduct intakes, and gather necessary information.
  • Prepare a wide range of immigration applications, including family-based petitions, removal defense, and other related forms.
  • Review and modify immigration applications and documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law.
  • Conduct client consultations, devising strategies tailored to each case.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS hearings, ensuring effective testimony.
  • Analyze legal cases to identify potential advantages or benefits for clients.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration-related cases.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1-4 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Ability to manage a caseload while working collaboratively with associates and legal staff.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Proven experience in moving legal cases forward in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Familiarity with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR proceedings, and USCIS applications.
  • Experience using Case Management Software is an advantage.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois.
