A law firm seeks an experienced Labor & Employment Associate Attorney to join its team in Houston, Texas. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in labor and employment law, including significant litigation experience. With a minimum of 3-8 years of practice in this field, the successful candidate will be adept at handling a variety of complex legal matters involving employment law issues and will be comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team. This hybrid position offers flexibility to work remotely and in the office.

Duties:

  • Litigation & Legal Representation:

    • Represent clients in labor and employment law matters, with a focus on litigation.
    • Handle discovery, motions, and pleadings in both state and federal court proceedings.
    • Manage complex employment law cases from inception through resolution, including settlement negotiations and trials.
    • Provide strategic counsel to clients on employment issues, compliance, and risk management.
  • Client Interaction & Legal Counseling:

    • Advise clients on a wide range of employment law issues, including wage and hour compliance, wrongful termination, and employee classification.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong professional relationships and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Research & Strategy Development:

    • Conduct in-depth legal research to support case strategy and provide effective legal solutions.
    • Develop strategies tailored to the unique needs of each client, utilizing best practices and innovative approaches to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork:

    • Work alongside other attorneys, paralegals, and legal support staff to ensure efficient case management and timely completion of tasks.
    • Participate in firm-wide initiatives to promote professional growth and innovation.

Requirements:

  • Experience:

    • 3-8 years of experience in labor and employment law with a strong emphasis on litigation.
    • Demonstrated ability to handle complex cases, including conducting discovery, taking depositions, and managing trials.
    • Experience in client counseling and providing strategic legal advice on employment-related matters.
  • Skills:

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a strategic mindset.
    • Proficient in legal research and applying legal principles to complex cases.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Qualifications:

    • Must be licensed to practice law in Texas and in good standing with the State Bar.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Texas Bar License (Required)

  • Labor & Employment Law: In-depth knowledge of labor and employment regulations and compliance, including wage and hour laws, discrimination, and wrongful termination.
  • Litigation & Trial Experience: Experience in all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, and courtroom appearances.
