Associate Attorney with 0-5 years of experience

A law firm in Birmingham, AL is seeking an Associate Attorney with 0-5 years of experience to manage litigation cases from beginning to end. The attorney will be responsible for handling all aspects of litigation and will attend court appearances throughout Alabama. The firm offers a competitive compensation and benefits package.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage litigation files from inception to resolution, including discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
• Conduct legal research and draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and briefs.
• Represent clients in court appearances, mediations, arbitrations, and trials across Alabama.
• Participate in settlement negotiations and work towards favorable outcomes for clients.
• Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and legal staff to ensure thorough case management and timely filings.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates on case progress and offering legal advice.
• Prepare and present arguments in court hearings and manage courtroom proceedings effectively.
• Conduct depositions and prepare witnesses for testimony in depositions and trials.

Requirements:

• 0-5 years of experience practicing law, with a strong interest in litigation.
• Admission to the Alabama State Bar and in good standing.
• Ability to manage litigation cases independently, from discovery through trial.
• Strong research and writing skills, with the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents.
• Excellent oral communication skills, with the ability to present cases persuasively in court.
• Willingness to travel throughout Alabama to attend court appearances and depositions.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Alabama State Bar is required.

Certifications (Preferred):

• Certification or coursework in trial advocacy or litigation is beneficial but not required.
