Litigation Associate

A law firm seeks a skilled and motivated litigation associate to join a dynamic team in Wilmington, DE. The ideal candidate will have an interest in commercial litigation and toxic torts, and will be eager to engage in active litigation work, including trial experience. The firm handles a high volume of product liability cases and offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced attorneys in both individual and team settings. The position provides the chance for significant in-court exposure and hands-on legal practice.

Duties:

• Conduct motion practice and perform related legal research.
• Manage civil discovery, including drafting discovery requests and reviewing existing discovery materials.
• Represent clients in motion hearings and other court proceedings.
• Maintain regular client communications and case management responsibilities.
• Collaborate with colleagues and work independently on various litigation tasks.
• Prepare legal documents such as motions, briefs, and other filings.
• Assist in the overall management and strategy of active cases.

Requirements:

• Prior litigation experience, preferably in commercial litigation or toxic torts.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and oral advocacy abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
• Comfort with both independent work and collaborative team environments.
• Membership in the Delaware Bar is required, or candidates who intend to take the February exam are encouraged to apply.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active membership in the Delaware Bar, or eligibility to sit for the exam in the upcoming session.

Skills:

• Proficient in legal research, including the use of tools like Westlaw or LexisNexis.
• Strong drafting skills for motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Effective communication skills for both client interaction and courtroom presentations.
• Ability to handle complex litigation cases with a focus on product liability and toxic torts.
