A law firm is seeking a Project Development Counsel with a robust background in project development within the renewable energy or oil & gas sectors, or extensive construction experience, particularly with large-scale infrastructure projects. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-profile projects in renewable energy, energy storage, and power generation technologies. The candidate can focus exclusively on renewable energy and energy transition transactions or participate in a broader range of energy and infrastructure projects.

Job Details

  • Lead the development of renewable and conventional energy projects, including wind, solar, LNG, and nuclear.
  • Oversee engineering, procurement, and construction agreements, equipment procurement agreements, and other development contracts.
  • Negotiate and draft engineering, procurement, and construction agreements.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and changes in project development and finance law.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients and colleagues in various specialty areas such as tax, regulatory, and real estate.
  • Provide representative experience with clients in the renewable energy market on matters including project development (offtake, procurement, and construction) and/or project finance specific transactions.
  • Apply law firm project finance experience, preferably in a sophisticated national law firm environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in construction, procurement, and project development.
  • Demonstrated expertise in negotiating and drafting engineering, procurement, and construction agreements.
  • Strong understanding of industry trends and project development and finance law.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders and manage multiple projects.
  • Experience with renewable energy market clients and transactions related to project development and/or project finance is advantageous.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active Bar membership in Missouri or eligibility to become licensed in Missouri.

Certifications

  • Admission to the Bar in Missouri or eligibility to become licensed in Missouri.
