Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is seeking a mid-level IP Patent Prosecution Attorney to join its expanding Intellectual Property practice. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in patent prosecution, including patent search, analysis, drafting, and filing applications, as well as managing patent portfolios across a variety of industries. Experience in mechanical, biomedical, or medical device patents is a plus, but not required. Litigation experience is also a bonus but not mandatory. The role offers flexibility in location, including remote or hybrid work arrangements.

Location:

  • Rock Hill, SC

Duties:

  • Manage patent prosecution tasks, including drafting and filing patent applications
  • Conduct patent searches and provide detailed analysis to support filings
  • Advise clients on patent portfolio management strategies
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients
  • Guide junior attorneys and provide mentorship
  • Optional involvement in patent litigation depending on experience and interest

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of patent prosecution experience
  • Experience in patent search, analysis, and application drafting
  • Familiarity with mechanical, biomedical, or medical device patents preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain client relationships
  • Litigation experience is a plus, but not required

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., engineering, biomedical science) preferred

Certifications:
