Duties:

  • Manage employment law defense cases from initiation through resolution, ensuring thorough preparation and organization.
  • Conduct detailed legal research to support case strategies, including gathering case law, statutes, and regulations.
  • Draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and settlement agreements.
  • Prepare exhibits, evidence, and witness testimony in preparation for trials and hearings.
  • Represent clients in court hearings, depositions, mediations, and settlement negotiations, under the guidance of senior attorneys.
  • Develop and present legal arguments effectively during hearings and trials.
  • Assist with negotiating settlements and finalizing settlement agreements.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, providing updates, explaining legal procedures, and addressing concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with senior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to manage cases efficiently.
  • Ensure that all legal work adheres to ethical standards, applicable laws, and regulations, maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with care.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • An active member in good standing with the California State Bar Association.
  • At least 2 years of experience in employment law litigation, including trial experience.
  • Proven ability to bring in and maintain a book of business.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software (e.g., Clio).

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California State Bar Association.
