A law firm seeks an experienced and highly motivated Insurance Defense Attorney to join its team in Houston, Texas. This full-time position offers an opportunity to handle a variety of civil litigation cases, primarily focusing on insurance defense. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience in the field, demonstrating proficiency in managing civil cases through trial, including depositions, negotiations, and hearings. The role requires both independent work and collaboration within a legal team, ensuring client needs are met with exceptional legal expertise and commitment.

Duties:

  • Handle a diverse caseload of insurance defense cases, including bodily injury, construction defects, and other related matters.
  • Manage civil litigation cases from start to finish, including preparation for trial, depositions, oral arguments, and hearings.
  • Negotiate settlements and communicate regularly with clients to provide updates on case progress.
  • Conduct legal research, draft motions, and engage in discovery processes.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure effective case management.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal requirements and deadlines in case proceedings.
  • Maintain professional and efficient communication with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in insurance defense or civil litigation.
  • Proven ability to manage and litigate complex civil cases, including trial preparation and trial experience.
  • Strong negotiation and settlement skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Highly motivated with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in Texas (Texas Bar in good standing).
  • Additional licensure in other states is a plus.

  • Expertise in insurance defense litigation, including knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
