Job Overview

An established national law firm is seeking a highly motivated associate with 3–5 years of public finance experience to join its Finance Practice Group. The practice focuses on a broad range of public finance matters including healthcare, housing, infrastructure, education, and economic development. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex and diverse transactions involving borrowers, issuers, financial institutions, and governmental agencies across the country.

Duties

  • Serve as bond counsel, lender’s counsel, and/or disclosure counsel in public finance transactions

  • Advise clients including state agencies, municipalities, governmental entities, and financial institutions

  • Draft and negotiate financing documents and disclosure materials

  • Manage due diligence and transaction closings

  • Interpret and apply legal principles across tax, securities, UCC, and contract law relevant to public finance

  • Collaborate closely with partners and clients to support transaction objectives

  • Handle matter management, timelines, and workflow across multiple projects

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of relevant public finance legal experience

  • Demonstrated experience working in bond counsel, lender’s counsel, or disclosure counsel roles

  • Familiarity with governmental clients and finance-related regulatory frameworks

  • Proven ability to manage complex transactions under tight deadlines

  • Excellent legal writing, research, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

  • Preferred coursework or focus in business law

Certifications

  • Active membership in the Bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

  • Admission to the Bar of the specific office location upon hire (if not already admitted)

  • High-level drafting and analytical capabilities
