A law firm in Cleveland, OH, is seeking an experienced e-Discovery Counsel to manage both billable and non-billable responsibilities in the realm of electronic discovery. This role involves working under the Director of Litigation Support and e-Discovery, coordinating with other e-Discovery counsel attorneys, and advising on best practices for document management in various legal contexts. The e-Discovery Counsel will also be tasked with staying current on e-Discovery developments and maintaining relevant resources for the Litigation Support Department.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Electronic Discovery Management: Analyze, advise, and coordinate all aspects of electronic discovery for assigned projects and matters. Contribute to strategic decision-making during discovery and planning phases.
  • Client and Department Advisory: Provide expert guidance to the Litigation Support Department and select Firm clients on best practices for document collection, retention, review, and production related to litigation, regulatory compliance, and subpoena responses.
  • Information Dissemination: Create, update, and maintain a master outline of discovery-related authority, including cases, articles, and conference reports. Distribute relevant materials and perform some document review.
  • Technical Expertise: Apply technical knowledge in e-Discovery review tools and platforms. Demonstrate expertise in database searchability, OCR, extracted text, near-native review, predictive coding, e-mail threading, and text encoding.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple priorities, adjust to changing demands, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Facilitate solutions and ensure timely completion of assigned projects.
  • Confidentiality and Ethics: Uphold high ethical standards and maintain strict confidentiality regarding Firm and client information.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with a team of e-Discovery counsel attorneys and coordinate with the Director of Litigation Support and e-Discovery.

Requirements

  • Education: Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Licensing: A license to practice law in the state and federal courts of Ohio.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant e-Discovery Technology or Litigation Support experience in a law firm or vendor setting.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Strong planning and organizational abilities with a thorough understanding of the e-Discovery lifecycle.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in e-Discovery processing, forensic document collection, and advanced litigation support functions.
    • Demonstrated technical knowledge in enterprise administration of leading e-Discovery tools and platforms.
    • Comprehensive understanding of issues related to database searchability, OCR, extracted text, and related technologies.
    • Capacity to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing conditions in a professional manner.
    • Flexibility in schedule, including some off-hour availability.
