Job Title: Patent Agent - Medical Devices

Job Overview:
A reputable law firm, located in New York City, is seeking a talented and driven Patent Agent to strengthen their intellectual property team. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with a background in medical devices, bioengineering, or related engineering disciplines. The successful candidate will assist in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, responding to office actions, and conducting prior art searches, specifically focusing on cutting-edge technologies in medical devices.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications related to medical devices and bioengineering.
  • Respond to office actions and support patent opinions.
  • Conduct prior art searches in medical devices, bioengineering, and related fields.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to assess patent strategy.
  • Review technical documents and patents to ensure compliance and strategic alignment.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of experience as a Patent Agent in the medical device or bioengineering field.
  • Must be admitted to practice before the USPTO.
  • Proven experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications and responding to office actions.
  • Familiarity with patent opinions and prior art searches.

Education:

  • A bachelor’s or advanced degree in bioengineering, engineering, or computer science is strongly preferred.
  • An understanding of mechanical engineering, artificial intelligence (AI), and computer science is a plus.

Certifications:

  • USPTO Registration is required.

Skills:

  • Strong technical understanding of medical devices, bioengineering, and related technologies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical abilities.
