Job Overview:
A law firm in the California Bay Area is seeking a compassionate and skilled Associate Attorney specializing in Family Law. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to make a meaningful impact on clients' lives by handling a variety of family law cases. The position offers the opportunity to work in an exciting, fast-paced environment while providing high-quality legal services. This is primarily a work-from-home position, with in-person attendance required for court appearances and occasional client meetings.

Location:

  • Palo Alto, CA

Duties:

  • Handle family law cases including divorce, custody, support, and property division.
  • Represent clients in court and make in-court appearances as required.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Meet with clients to provide timely legal advice and case updates.
  • Collaborate with team members (paralegals, attorneys, administrative staff) to manage cases efficiently.
  • Attend mediation and settlement conferences to negotiate favorable outcomes.
  • Maintain strong client communication to build trust and ensure support throughout the legal process.
  • Stay current on legal developments and trends in family law to provide effective representation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in family law.
  • Active admission to the California State Bar and in good standing.
  • Exceptional writing skills demonstrated through writing samples.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to explain legal issues clearly to clients.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Client-focused mindset with a commitment to providing exceptional client service.
  • Strong references demonstrating expertise and professionalism.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California State Bar in good standing.

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate professionally with clients, court staff, and opposing counsel.
  • Proven experience handling a variety of family law matters (divorce, custody, property division, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing client needs and legal deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and proactive problem-solving approach.
  • Ability to work under pressure, especially during trial preparation or tight court schedules.
  • Strong negotiation and mediation skills to advocate for clients in settlement discussions.
  • Willingness to work evenings or weekends when necessary to meet case deadlines or handle urgent matters.
