A law firm in Houston, TX is seeking a highly experienced Senior International Tax Associate Attorney with at least 7 years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in planning inbound and outbound cross-border transactions across various industries, gained from prior experience in a law firm or accounting firm. Candidates with a degree in accounting, CPA license, or LL.M. in Tax are strongly preferred. Excellent academic and professional credentials, along with strong research, analysis, and writing skills, are essential for this role.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide sophisticated tax advice and counsel on international transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and joint ventures.
  • Conduct comprehensive tax research and analysis on complex international tax issues.
  • Draft and review tax opinions, memoranda, agreements, and other legal documents related to international tax matters.
  • Assist clients in navigating international tax compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with clients, other attorneys, and external advisors to develop and implement tax-efficient strategies.
  • Stay updated on changes in international tax laws and regulations affecting clients.
  • Manage client relationships and ensure high-quality service delivery.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Texas State Bar in good standing.
  • 7+ years of experience practicing international tax law, preferably in a law firm or accounting firm setting.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. international tax principles and regulations.
  • Experience in planning and structuring inbound and outbound cross-border transactions.
  • Excellent academic credentials and employment history.
  • CPA license or LL.M. in Taxation preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with transfer pricing and global tax compliance.
  • Familiarity with tax treaties and OECD guidelines.
  • Proficiency in tax research software and tools.
  • Fluency in additional languages is a plus.
